Welcome to the website of the Florence Township Education Association, representing over 200 teachers and support staff. We have made great strides as a union to increase involvement and strengthen our advocacy, and I look forward to continuing that progress as President. As FTEA members, we have been fighting a losing battle. Over the last decade, we have seen the benefits of our profession stripped away from us. We take home paychecks that do not even reflect a cost of living raise. We see the cost of benefits get higher and higher. On a day to day basis our professionalism is questioned and our expertise in matters is ignored. Many people feel that this is a “sign of the times” and that there is nothing we can do about these trends that negatively impact our members and their families. I refuse to believe that. We will always have strength in numbers. We need to support one another. We need to come together, get active, and fight for the betterment of our situation in the Florence Township School District. FTEA will only be successful with support from ALL of our members, so I encourage you to get involved. Whether you are in a defined role in union leadership or a well-informed supporting member, you have all of the power to make real, positive changes to a trend that has seen us on the losing side too often in recent years.
